Anxiety-like Behavior in Female Sprague Dawley Rats Associated with Cecal Clostridiales

چکیده

The relationship between the microbiota profile and exposure to stress is not well understood. Therefore, we used a rat model of unpredictable chronic mild (UCMS) investigate this relationship. Depressive-like behaviors were measured in Female Sprague Dawley rats using sucrose preference test Porsolt swim test. Anxiety-like with light–dark box Fecal corticosterone, cecal (composition organic acids), plasma gut permeability (lipopolysaccharide-binding protein, LBP) inflammation (12 cytokines) markers measured. Atypical observed female following UCMS, but no depressive-like observed. Circulating concentrations cytokines granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant 1 higher UCMS-exposed rats; LBP acid levels remained unchanged. Our results reflect resilient adaptive phenotype for SD rats. relative abundance taxa from Clostridiales order Desulfovibrionaceae family did, however, correlate both positively negatively anxiety-like cytokine concentrations, regardless UCMS exposure, supporting brain-to-gut influence anxiety that may involve inflammatory pathways.

Effect of Housing Types on Growth, Feeding, Physical Activity, and Anxiety-Like Behavior in Male Sprague-Dawley Rats

BACKGROUND Animal welfare and accurate data collection are equally important in rodent research. Housing influences study outcomes and can challenge studies that monitor feeding, so housing choice needs to be evidence-based. The goal of these studies was to (1) compare established measures of well-being between rodents housed in wire grid-bottom floors with a resting platform compared to solid-...

Cardiopulmonary control in sleeping Sprague-Dawley rats treated with hydralazine.

To test the hypothesis that hydralazine can suppress spontaneous sleep-related central apnea, respiratory pattern, blood pressure, and heart period were monitored in Sprague-Dawley rats. In random order and on separate days, rats were recorded after intraperitoneal injection of 1) saline or 2) 2 mg/kg hydralazine. Normalized minute ventilation (NVI) declined significantly with transitions from ...

Comparison of the antinociceptive response to morphine and morphine-like compounds in male and female Sprague-Dawley rats.

Male rats are more sensitive to the antinociceptive effects of morphine than female rats. This difference is seen across several rat strains using a variety of nociceptive stimuli. However, the literature in regard to sex differences in antinociceptive responses to mu-opioids other than morphine is less consistent. The present study was designed to examine whether there is a structure-activity ...
